More Leviathan Creatures

Tyranids incoming! I'm a big fan of the new sculpts and thought I'd continue my test scheme for a Leviathan army. Here are my neurotyrant and psychophage!

And, of course, a family shot! Those little neurospores are the most adorable little models. It's a pity they only function as markers...

The theme for these guys is gritty and desaturated with blood to add a splash of warmth and vitality to a terrible, alien menace. Unfortunately, these guys don't have claws or jaws that lend themselves to being covered in blood (though they have some pretty turquoise brains). However, the psychophage has no such problem!

That wraps up my test scheme. To be honest, I am not sure I want to keep painting an army like this. I'm kind of itching to paint some different colours...

Until next time, happy painting!

Tyranid Prime

I am easily distracted. I should be working on my eldar. Or my death guard. Or any of a number of projects underway. Instead, here I am collecting tyranids with the new Leviathan box. Here's my take on a grimdark Leviathan colour scheme. I'm looking forward to painting a whole lot more of these!

Until next time, happy painting!

Bloat Drone

What a disgustingly busy summer it's been. If I could get more time to work on this blog I would. No matter. We're here now and we've got a new model to show off. This is my Bloat Drone - it was a prototype for a GD entry and I'm pretty delighted with how it came out. See for yourself!

Death Guard Bloat Drone

Still need to find time to take better videos, but I hope you'll agree it's an impressive piece for the tabletop. I'm accumulating quite a collection of painted Death Guard. Pity about their current state in the rules.

Until next time, happy painting!

Poxwalkers Take 2

The thing about disease zombies is you can never stop at just 30. So How about 30 more?

I tried making them a little more colourful than the last ones, a little more saturated. And, because photographing 30 models in batches small enough to fit against my background is tedious, I decided to take some videos to show them off instead.

I'm still experimenting with shooting video I'll be the first to admit they're are still a little dark. Something to work on, but it does give it a moody look and shows you can be colourful and grimdark. Once the death guard army is all done there'll be a big reunion post of the whole lot. Maybe even some videos and shots against different backgrounds?

Until then, happy painting!

Bejewelled Eldar Rangers

Aaaand we're right back again - this time, I hope, for good!

With 10th edition 40k around the corner I have now successfully failed to play a single game of 9th. That sounds depressing, and it is. However, after visiting Warhammer Fest this year I am more inspired than ever to get into regular painting and finally get an army completely, 100% painted. Hopefully that army will be my Eldar.

I have no idea if Troops are even required anymore, but I've been working on two units of rangers for a long, long time and I've finally finished them. Best of all, I've got a basing scheme for the whole army!

I'm also toying with a new way to display models - video. It's such a pain trying to get photographs of entire units (because I haven't learnt how to image stack to make everything in focus) so - drumroll please - in all their motion picture glory, I present my Eldar rangers!

First time taking video and since I already had my DSLR out I just used that. I think next time I'll try out the GoPro, see what the difference is like. In any case, it wouldn't be complete without a few select shots.

As you can see, I made life hard for myself by painting everything that could be a gem as a gem (a big part of why these models took so long). I just can't seem to stop! At least it makes them stand out from most other armies you'll see on the table.

I currently have some shining spears on my painting table, but before you see them there'll be a dive into disease as I show of some Nurgle models I've completed in the recent past (and just got round to photographing).

Until next time, happy painting!
