"What's all this then?"
My name is Sam, and as well as the various things I have been accused of being (brilliant, lazy, intelligent, stupid, charming, ass, and occasionally very funny) I am a miniature painter. I've been spending money and time on toy soldiers since my early teens and at twenty-something and much to my girlfriend's disappointment*, I don't show any signs of stopping.
I wasn't always a very good painter. To be fair I probably still amn't, but I'm getting better. For the last couple of years I've been on hiatus from this hobby. Life and other interests got in the way - what can you do? Now that I'm back I've set my sights on two main goals:
- Get my armies fully painted
- Enter (and win something) in a big painting competition
The point of this blog is to have somewhere to show off my miniatures. I like having my ego stroked as much as the next person, so any praise you'd like to send my way is always appreciated. I also find criticism very useful, but it's rarely quite as fun.
It's also nice to think that my models and ideas and painting might inspire someone else. Sometimes I like to trawl through Google Images looking for ideas of what to work on next, and scrolling through random blogs and plogs and what have yous never fails to motivate me to break out my brushes. This is my version of giving back.
So, with that all out of the way, welcome to the blog
